Dear Mrs Sladden

I felt I must write and thank you all again for the very happy time I spent with you last weekend. I wish it had not been such a short holiday but it was quite sufficient to make a splendid break in the monotony of things.

I miss George rather badly, but I could not possibly grudge him to you for one little short week.

We have my little brother home again – he has to go to the doctor’s twice daily to have his head dressed, and he will not return to school for several weeks. He is so pleased to go out again and is quite the hero of the village.

We have been unusually busy at the office today, owing to an air-raid alarm – fortunately a false one.

Please give my love to everybody and kiss the baby for me.

Yours very affectionately
Rosie
