Dear Mr Sladden
This mail brings the news of my sister’s engagement to you, and I am writing to wish you both the best of luck.
I can add no more, although this seems a very short letter to write to one’s future brother-in-law. Perhaps our correspondence may be more lengthy after we have met, which I hope we may do. I shall try to come home for the wedding.
