Text of Letter

War Office

Whitehall SW1

18th July 1919

The Secretary of the War Office presents his compliments to Mrs A M Sladden and begs to inform her that the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood are not accepting names for Investiture of Officers who were gazetted to the Order of the British Empire in the recent Peace Honours Gazette (owing to the large numbers of Officers who are awaiting Investiture in respect of earlier awards) until about November.  Mrs Sladden is requested to be good enough to apply to this Office later in the year, when if possible arrangements will be made for her to receive her decoration.  Should she be proceeding to the Colonies, she should inform the Secretary (Room 05), War Office.
