With reference to the estate of the late Lt J C Brown Constable, 14th London Regiment, the Secretary of the War Office requests that you will be good enough to return this letter as early as possible, to the above address, with a statement in the margin showing whether you are still residing at the above address.  This information is required to enable this Department to dispose of a further sum in respect of War Gratuity due to the late Officer’s estate.

 

ANSWER (received at the War Office on 30th January 1920)

Mrs Brown Constable presents her compliments to the Secretary, War Office, and wishes to inform him that the above address is still her permanent address.  At present she is at the Hotel des Orangers, Rue de Fregus, Cannes, AM France, where letters are forwarded.
