Gwendoline Ethel LINDSELL (1897-?)

Gwendoline Ethel Lindsell (1897-?) was a friend of Juliet Sladden in Evesham.

Gwendoline Lindsell, known as Gwen, was born in Bedford in the last quarter of 1897, the youngest of seven children of Arthur Knox Lindsell, a bank manager, and his wife, Ethel Gwen Charlotte (Née Mellor).   She was almost exactly the same age as Juliet Sladden, who was also the youngest in a large family.

As a child, Gwen lived in Bedfordshire and then Chichester, before moving with her family to Evesham in 1903 when her father became manager of the Evesham branch of the Capital and Counties Bank.  Like Juliet, she attended boarding school, as she was not present at the large garden party hosted by her parents in 1914.

Around the time of the end of the First World War, the Lindsell family returned to Bedfordshire.  Gwen married Otton J Hansen in Bedford in 1919 and they went to live in South Africa.  Gwen had three sons:  John, Denys and Christopher.  It is not known when she died.
