My dearest Husband,
I was glad to receive your post-card this morning; I am sending you on Arthur’s letter, the girls, I thought it was not worth while to send, as you had seen them & heard all their news. Baby’s cold is better today, & as it was nice & bright I ventured to take her out; yesterday she was very heavy & fretful, so different to her dear little self. Clara is also much better, but she is very weak & I don’t think will be up to doing her work for some days to come; she comes down into the kitchen now, so I get her to look after Baby a little sometimes. The school treat is to be on Friday, Mr McDonald wanted to see you yesterday, but as you were away, asked me if he might have the use of the barn to show off the Magic Lantern, after the tea which will be at the schools; I thought you wouldn’t mind so said they might have it. There was a letter for you from Mrs Gilpin this morning, asking if you would take “Touchstone” at Mrs Malcolm’s next week & May, Oliver; I am just going to write & tell her that you will not be there, but that I will do it if she likes, & that May can take Oliver. May & Jack have been as far as Craycomb Bank on their bicycles this afternoon, the roads were pretty good after yesterday’s rain, but very sticky in the town. I hope you found all well at Folkestone & will have nice weather. With much love from us all
