My darling Husband
I arrived here quite safely this morning, but our train was an hour behind time & then there was the usual waiting for the luggage & a very slow cab, so that it was nearly ten o’clock before I got here.
I am so sorry I forgot to post a post-card at Paddington; I got one in Worcester & quite intended to send it. I saw Jack safely into his train at Worcester & he met a school fellow, Sheels, so that he would have company all the way. Polly met me in London & we had dinner together & a nice chat; Charlie is better, but gets on rather slowly & has not yet left his room.
We had a very good passage over & I got a comfortable sofa & should not have been ill at all only I got up rather too soon, thinking we were nearly in, & that made me feel queer for a little while. May gave me a warm welcome & has put me up in a comfortable room, where there is a little bed for Herbert; tell George, Herbert is about his age.
The Baby who is about Cyril’s age is a dear little thing but rather shy.
Do not forget to get dear little Cyril a birthday present for you & me for next Monday & tell Phillis to order a sponge cake for him from Cull’s.
I was not able to pay for our tickets to Worcester in the scramble for our train & told the station master you would send the money down.
I am going down to the office presently to see Joe about my journey to Bourg, I could not make enquiries at Cook’s offices as they were closed, there were so many people travelling that we had to wait a long time for a cab.
Give my love & kisses to all the dear children & remember me kindly to Miss Fabling & with much love to yourself dear
