1 Kingsnorth Gardens was a detached house in Folkestone which was home to Mrs Martha Money (née Wall), who was the great-aunt of Mela Brown Constable, and her daughter, Eva Margaret Money.  The 1911 census reveals that the house had nine rooms and they had a live-in servant.

The Moneys had lived in Folkestone since about the late 1880s.  Previously they had lived at 66 Coolinge Road (1891) and 21 Connaught Road (1901).

Mela went to stay with the Moneys from time to time.  This also gave her the opportunity to visit Charlotte Hayward (née Sladden), who was the aunt of her fiancé, Cyril Sladden, and who lived just a short distance away at Millfield.  Cyril’s cousin, Anna Gillio (née Mourilyan), also lived close by at 105 Cheriton Road, Folkestone.
