My Dearest Wife,

Although there is little news to relate I will write a few lines to post early to-morrow so that you may get a letter before you go to Bourg.

We were glad to have Mary’s post card announcing your arrival at Richmond, it was a nuisance just missing that first train.

I enclose Georgie’s letter which is certainly an improvement on the last.  Cyril was highly pleased to cycle up with me to mashing this morning, it was fine and quite mild, to-night we have discontinued a fire.

I hope you have had a good passage to-day, it was calm enough here.

May went to her carving class to-day and I waited and rode home with her.  We have been making up several bags of walnuts this evening for despatch in the morning.  Baby is very good and jolly enough.

The cider is to be made to-morrow.

What sort of rooms have you got? you might enquire about prices next summer for Charlotte.  I hope Polly is well and enjoying herself, give her my love and with much from us all to yourself

I am as ever
Your affectionate Husband

Julius Sladden

There was a wedding in Evesham to-day, Phyliss Slatter to the youngest Smith.  May says she took 19/1 at the rummage stall during the first hour.  I daresay you may write from Bourg, let us know when you propose crossing next week.  May will write Thursday evening.
