Saturday 24 May 1930 – Wedding of Julia Louisa Moisey at Badsey

DISTRICT NEWS, BADSEY – PERKINS-MOISEY WEDDING

A wedding of much local interest took place at Badsey on Wednesday last.  The contracting parties were members of two well-known and respected families, viz, Miss Julia Louisa, daughter of Mr & Mrs George Moisey of Bredon View, Badsey, and Mr John William, son of Mr & Mrs J C Perkins of Station Road, Bretforton.  The Vicar (Canon Allsebrook) officiated.

Saturday 22 June 1929 – Wedding of Gertrude Evelyn Bennett at Badsey

DISTRICT NEWS, BADSEY – FLOYD-BENNETT WEDDING

A pretty wedding, which attracted a large number of the villagers, took place at the Parish Church on Saturday last, when the officiating clergy were the Vicar (Rev W C Allsebrook, RD) and the Rev G S Stubbs of Evesham.  The bride was Gertrude Evelyn, only daughter of Mr William and Mrs Bennett of 10 Belmont Terrace, Badsey, and the bridegroom, Harry, second son of Mrs and the late John Floyd of Old Hill, Staffs.

Saturday 27 October 1945 – Philip Sparrow arrives home in Badsey

A ROYAL HOME-COMING – Flags and church bells greet Badsey airman

The ringing of church bells, the congratulations of friends and neighbour, and streets gaily decked with flags and bunting, heralded the home-coming of L/AC Phil Sparrow of Brewers Lane, Badsey, when he arrived in the village on Wednesday after four years away from home, three of which have been spent in Japanese prisoner of war camps.

Saturday 8 January 1944 – Philip Sparrow, a prisoner in Java

DISTRICT NEWS, BADSEY – A PRISONER IN JAVA

After a year and ten months, Mrs W Sparrow of 1 South View, Badsey, has received a postcard from her son, L/AC Philip Henry Sparrow, RAF, who is a prisoner of war in Japanese hands in Java.  He writes:  “Hope all are well.  Health is and has been good.  Pray speedy reunion.  Fondest love, mother and others.  Yours always, Phil.”  Mrs Sparrow wishes to thank all friends for their kind enquiries over this long period.
 

Saturday 16 October 1926 – Sale of house and land at Sands Lane, Badsey

BADSEY, HOUSE AND LAND SOLD

Messrs E G Righton & Son held a property sale at The King’s Head Hotel, Evesham, on Monday, which included a house and ground in Sands Lane, with crops and outbuildings was offered for sale.  It was eventually bought by Mr John Byrd for £980.  A pair of villas on the road from Badsey to Bretforton were withdrawn.
