My dear Father
We are very glad you have attained the honourable rank of grandfather. I hope you’ll see your granddaughter before long, Mary says there is a considerable Sladden likeness to be seen. You must be busy with fruiting and other affairs. Am glad to get some news of the two boys, and hope George will get some leave. News so far from Port Talbot is very good – but you are likely to hear sooner than I.
Hoping to see you before long.
With love to you and Mother.
Your affectionate son
Arthur
