John HAYWARD (c1829-1905)

John Hayward (c1829-1905) was the brother-in-law of Julius Sladden, having married his sister, Charlotte.

John Hayward was born about 1829 in Dover, the eldest of eight children of John Hayward and his wife, Margaret Ann (née Coleman).

John was a Customs Clerk.  He married firstly Margaret Ann Forster at Dover in 1854; they had no children.  In 1861 they were living at 9 London Street, Folkestone; in 1871 at Northumberland House, 2 Strand Street, Dover; and in 1881 at 68 Folkestone Road, Hougham, Dover.  Margaret died at Dover in 1890.

On 31st January 1893, John married for a second time to Charlotte Mary Sladden in her home village of Ash, Kent.  In 1901, they were living at 26 Radnor Park Road, Folkestone, with Charlotte's widowed mother, Elizabeth, and two servants.

John Hayward died on 27th March 1905 at Radnor Park Road, aged 76, leaving effects of £8,167 2s 6d.
