William Smith, a widower in his seventies, owned land in Badsey at the beginning of the 19th century and was mentioned in the Badsey Enclosure Award schedules of 1815.

DEATH OF MR J A BARNARD
Alfred Halford was born on 26th May 1874, a son of John and Mary Halford, of Broadway. At the 1891 census, the family were living in Buckland, with six of the children living at home, including Alfred. He was a labourer when he enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment on 12th February 1894, aged 19 years, initially signing on for seven years plus five in the Reserves. He lived in Wickhamford, from about the time of his marriage in 1906, for less than ten years.
Frederick William Bullock was born in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire in 1859, a son of Edward and his wife, Celia (née Phillimore). For the 1861 census, the Bullock family were living in Hadnock House, Dixton Newton, Monmouthshire, where Edward farmed 380 acres and employed nine men and three boys. He had five children by this time, with Frederick being the youngest. By 1871, Edward and Celia had moved to farm the 180 acres of Homestead Farm, Pencraig, Herefordshire. Frederick was away at Blenheim House School, Longhope, Gloucestershire, for that census.
Sladden Close is named after Sir Julius Sladden (1847-1928), who lived at Seward House, High Street, Badsey, for nearly 50 years, and who was prominent in village affairs.
Sladden Close is a new housing development by Cameron. The majority of the houses were built in 2018.
Odd numbers are 1-39 (no number 13) on the east side and even numbers are 2-34 on the west side.
Kingshurst Drive is so-called because it is named after the King family who owned the land for many years.
Maybush Gardens is so-called because it is named after the historic field name, Maybush Close, originally known as Myer’s Bush Close.
In 2018, a private developer built 15 detached houses and a terrace of three and a block of maisonettes of four houses. Two more detached houses were built a couple of years later.
MP THROWS A PARTY
Mr Henry Usborne, MP for Yardley, wanted to do something for the employees of Nu-Way Heating Plants Ltd (Droitwich), of which he is Chairman; so on Sunday he invited them to a strawberry tea in the grounds of his home, Totterdown House, Aldington.
Coaches brought employees and their families from Droitwich. Many others arrived in their cars.
To amuse them there were pony rides, swings, a treasure hunt for the children, lawn tennis, skittles and archery.
